INXS Honored at 2026 APRA Awards, Deliver Heartfelt Tribute to Michael Hutchence

INXS accepted the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music at the 2026 APRA Awards in Sydney, using the moment to pay heartfelt tribute to their late frontman Michael Hutchence. The surviving members spoke with visible emotion, reflecting on his irreplaceable role in the band's legacy.

Andrew Farriss honored their long songwriting partnership, while Kirk Pengilly recalled Hutchence's wish that the band would one day be seen as having truly mattered — a sentiment the award itself confirmed.

Still KICK-ing. Michael Hutchence Site Re-launches.

From the pub stages of Sydney to sold-out arenas across five continents, Michael Hutchence left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. Since his passing in November 1997, that mark has only deepened — kept alive by family, friends and fans who refused to let the tabloid years become the final word on his life.

Launched in 2004, this site has always been the labor of that collective love. Now, completely rebuilt and optimized for all experiences, it returns with one clear purpose: to be the complete resource for everything Michael Hutchence. The music, the story, the man — all of it in one place, with the honesty and spirit he always deserved.

The Fan Votes Are In

The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote is officially closed, and the results are in. Out of 17 nominees and nearly 9.5 million total votes cast, INXS finished in 6th place with 645,021 votes, outpolling massive acts like Wu-Tang Clan, Billy Idol, Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, and Lauryn Hill. Only New Edition, Phil Collins, P!nk, Shakira, and Luther Vandross finished ahead of them.

For a band whose fanbase spans the globe but draws on deep, passionate loyalty rather than sheer mainstream chart dominance in 2026, that kind of showing is a genuine overperformance — and a powerful statement.

Now we wait for the official induction announcement. The fans did their part. The rest is up to the Hall.
