TOURS

INXS toured constantly from their formation in 1977 (originally as the Farriss Brothers) until Michael Hutchence’s untimely death in November 1997, first playing pubs and clubs in their earlier days, and then arenas, festivals and stadiums which included multiple world tours. The total number of all their performances listed below are close to 1500 shows around the world.

Key Touring Eras and Highlights

• Early Years (1977–1981): Hundreds of small pub and club gigs across Sydney and regional Australia performing as The Farriss Brothers then later in September 1979 as INXS.

• International Breakthrough (1982–1985): Non-stop touring supporting major acts and headlining worldwide following albums like Shabooh Shoobah and The Swing.

• Peak Stadium Era (1986–1994): Massive global treks including the Australian Made tour (1986–1987), Kick tour (1987–1988), and the famous Summer XS tour ending with their legendary sold-out show at Wembley Stadium on July 13, 1991.

• Final Tour (1997): The Elegantly Wasted tour, which began with a private showcase in Sydney on January 29, 1997, and marked Hutchence's final series of performances with the band.​
